Suddenly, Ranger stopped in his tracks. The German Shepherd\u2019s body went rigid, hackles raised, ears locked forward. Without warning, he pulled hard on the leash, barking in quick, urgent bursts toward the garbage truck.<\/p>\n

At first, Officer Hargrave thought maybe Ranger had caught the scent of leftover food or perhaps an animal. But this bark sounded different \u2014 sharp, insistent, almost desperate. After three years working together, Hargrave knew one thing for certain: Ranger wasn\u2019t wrong.<\/p>\n
