Dad would always comfort her, telling her she was doing great. And I\u2019d feel guilty for even bringing it up.<\/p>\n

Then the comments started.<\/p>\n

\u201cJocelyn, don\u2019t you think that skirt is a little short for school?\u201d she\u2019d say in front of Dad. \u201cI just worry about what message you\u2019re sending.\u201d<\/p>\n

When I got excited about making varsity soccer, she said, \u201cThat\u2019s nice, dear. Just remember, not everyone can be good at everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
