I froze. My heart started pounding in my throat.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Install cameras in your house \u2014 he repeated. \u2014 And please, don\u2019t tell your husband.<\/p>\n

I couldn\u2019t believe he had said that. My husband was a caring father, he loved our daughter, helped me with everything\u2026 or so I thought.<\/p>\n

Still, I followed his advice. The cameras were installed secretly \u2014 in the nursery, the living room, and the kitchen. The next day, I watched the footage.<\/p>\n

And when I saw what happened while I was gone, my legs gave out beneath me.<\/p>\n

My daughter was sitting in her playpen, quietly crying. My husband walked over, leaned down to her\u2026 and suddenly \u2014 shouting, angry words, rough movements.<\/p>\n

He grabbed her by the arm and shook her, as if blaming her for something. Then, as if nothing had happened, he turned on the TV and made himself some coffee, while the child cried, confused and scared.<\/p>\n

The next day, I left with my daughter \u2014 taking only our documents and one toy.
