My wife was sitting on the sofa, her face covered in tears, her eyes red. Next to her was my brother, quietly holding her hand and saying something comforting.<\/p>\n

\u2014 \u201cI can\u2019t hide this from him anymore,\u201d she said through her tears. \u201cIt\u2019s wrong. The child isn\u2019t his\u2026 He could find out at any moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

My brother leaned in closer and said quietly but firmly:<\/p>\n

\n\u2014 \u201cYou must stay silent. Otherwise you will destroy his life, your marriage, and our relationship forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

I felt dizzy; my heart was pounding so hard that I had trouble breathing. I don\u2019t even remember how I approached the window and knocked.<\/p>\n

Both of them jumped. My wife turned pale, my brother froze\u2014as if he had seen a ghost.<\/p>\n

We looked at each other\u2014three people bound by a lie that none of us wanted to talk about.<\/p>\n

And now I don\u2019t know how to go on living, or how to forgive them<\/p>\n
