I grabbed my phone, took a picture, and, grimacing from the smell, started searching the internet for answers.<\/p>\n

The first result read:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnthurus archeri \u2014 the alien fungus, also known as the Devil\u2019s Fingers.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

It turned out that this fungus actually exists. Originally from Australia and Tasmania, it has since spread across the world.<\/p>\n

At first, it looks like a white egg \u2014 but soon, red tentacles burst out of it, resembling claws or fingers.<\/p>\n
