Richard ordered the service to stop. The coffin was not sealed yet, and everyone\u2019s eyes followed as the lid was carefully lifted. Gasps rippled again through the crowd. Inside, Emily\u2019s face looked peaceful, but pale. Too pale. Her lips, however, were not as blue as one would expect. A doctor present at the funeral leaned closer, inspecting her neck and pulse. Moments later, the doctor looked up, visibly shaken.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s\u2026 faint activity,\u201d he stammered. \u201cShe\u2019s not gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cries of disbelief echoed. Emily\u2019s mother collapsed, overwhelmed. Richard froze, unable to process what he had just heard. His daughter\u2014his only daughter\u2014was alive.<\/p>\n

Marcus stepped forward. \u201cI tried to stop them that night. I saw what happened. Emily\u2019s car didn\u2019t just crash\u2014it was forced off the road.\u201d His voice trembled, but he kept going. \u201cThere were men in another car. They pulled her out. She wasn\u2019t dead, just unconscious. They were going to finish the job, but I scared them off. I called for help, but when the ambulance came, I thought she\u2019d be safe. Then I heard they declared her dead. That\u2019s when I knew something wasn\u2019t right.\u201d<\/p>\n
