They toasted to their new fortune, oblivious to the headlights sweeping across the front window as a squad car pulled into the driveway.<\/p>\n

Ten minutes later, a loud, mechanical drilling sound erupted from the front door. It was the high-pitched whine of hardened steel biting into brass.<\/p>\n

Kevin jumped up, spilling his scotch onto the rug. \u201cWhat the hell?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIs she trying to break in?\u201d Jessica shrieked, dropping her paint swatches. \u201cCall the police!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll handle this,\u201d Kevin growled. He marched to the door, his face flushed with alcohol and indignation, ready to physically intimidate his seventy-year-old mother. \u201cI told her to leave! She\u2019s trespassing!\u201d<\/p>\n
