Those little spots or\u00a0dots that seem to\u00a0move when you try to\u00a0focus on\u00a0them are called myodesopsias, and they are usually harmless when they appear a\u00a0little at\u00a0a\u00a0time. BUT\u2026 if\u00a0you suddenly see many more than usual, or\u00a0if\u00a0they are accompanied by\u00a0flashes of\u00a0lightning, they may be\u00a0a\u00a0sign of\u00a0something serious: retinal detachment.<\/p>\n

This is\u00a0an\u00a0urgent problem: the retina (which is\u00a0like the screen where we\u00a0\u201csee\u201d images) detaches from its place, and if\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0not treated immediately, you can lose vision in\u00a0that eye. So\u00a0if\u00a0you\u2019d better see an\u00a0ophthalmologist.<\/p>\n
