Every time Emma dismissed Lily as \u201cweird\u201d or \u201cspoiled.\u201d Every time I had swallowed my rage, smiled, and made excuses to keep the \u201cpeace.\u201d I had sacrificed my daughter\u2019s self-esteem on the altar of my family\u2019s ego.<\/span><\/p>\n
