The fluorescent lights of Oakwood Middle School buzzed overhead with a low, irritating frequency. It was Wednesday evening, the second night of parent-teacher conferences. I walked down the freshly waxed hallway, the smell of floor cleaner and old paper triggering a visceral, deeply buried sense of nostalgia and anxiety.<\/span><\/p>\n
