{"id":478,"date":"2025-02-25T16:49:18","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T16:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/readmore.cx\/?p=478"},"modified":"2025-02-25T16:49:18","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T16:49:18","slug":"478","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/readmore.cx\/?p=478","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"228\" data-end=\"396\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">n a memo obtained by NewsNation, Patel stated that the bureau would handle future responses to inquiries from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFBI personnel may have received an email from OPM requesting information,\u201d Patel wrote in his message, per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5160041-patel-tells-fbi-employees-to-pause-any-responses-to-doge-email\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>. \u201cThe FBI, through the Office of the Director, is in charge of all of our review processes, and will conduct reviews in accordance with FBI procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen and if further information is required, we will coordinate the responses,\u201d Patel continued. \u201cFor now, please pause any responses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk\u2014who has been spearheading the White House\u2019s efforts to downsize the federal government\u2014announced Saturday afternoon on his social platform X that federal employees would soon receive an email \u201crequesting to understand what they got done last week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFailure to response will be taken as a resignation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The message, reviewed by The Hill, instructed federal employees to \u201cplease reply to this email with approx. 5 bullet points of what you accomplished last week,\u201d and copied to their managers. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. Monday night, according to the message.<\/p>\n<p>The State Department is taking the same approach as the FBI, The Hill added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe State Department will respond on behalf of the Department. No employee is obligated to report their activities outside of their Department chain of command,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Yamiche\/status\/1893517922586239358\">read a notice<\/a>\u00a0from Tibor Nagy, acting undersecretary for management at the State Department.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Patel has been tapped by the White House to also take charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, an agency that also falls under the purview of the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes one day after Patel was sworn in as FBI director, Fox News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/new-fbi-leader-kash-patel-tapped-run-atf-acting-director\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. Attorney General Pam Bondi fired the ATF general counsel, Pamela Hicks, Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier today, I was served official notice from the Attorney General of the United States that I\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/atf-chief-legal-counsel-fired-bondi-latest-justice-department-shakeup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was being removed\u00a0<\/a>from my position as the Chief Counsel of ATF and my employment with the Department of Justice terminated,\u201d Hicks posted on her LinkedIn page earlier in the day, confirming her dismissal.<\/p>\n<p>Hicks had served as ATF\u2019s chief counsel since 2021 under the Biden administration and previously held the role of deputy chief counsel during President Donald Trump\u2019s first term.
