Our hearts sank. It seemed injured or severely exhausted. The lynx \u2014 likely its mother \u2014 looked at us with such hope and anxiety, as if pleading: \u201cHelp.\u201d<\/p>\n
We exchanged glances. My mom, who always had a special connection with animals, approached first. Gently, without sudden movements, she bent down to check on the baby.<\/p>\n

Now, every time we pass that area, we stop by that tree. Not because we hope to see the lynx again, but because that\u2019s where we felt \u2014 how important it is not to walk away when someone nearby needs you.<\/p>\n
Even if that someone has sharp claws and a wild heart.<\/p>\n
