\u201cAlways.\u201d I could hear the smile in her voice. \u201cAnd from what I gather, your mom did the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

I wiped at my eyes, overwhelmed by a strange sense of comfort. \u201cYeah. She did.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was a pause. \u201cMaybe,\u201d Eleanor said softly, \u201cthis was meant to happen. Maybe your mom just wanted to remind you that she still loves you, even from heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n

I swallowed the lump in my throat. \u201cYou think so?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI do,\u201d she said with certainty. \u201cLove doesn\u2019t end, sweetheart. It just finds new ways to show itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

We talked for a few more minutes. She told me about her granddaughter, and I told her about my mom. By the time we hung up, I felt lighter, like I had just been given a gift I hadn\u2019t known I needed.<\/p>\n

A few days later, I got another message from Eleanor.<\/p>\n
