The doctors looked at each other. The woman was 43 years old. Alone. No family, no children. Only the dog \u2013 an old, faithful German Shepherd named Greta. They had lived together for more than ten years. Greta had been with her in the hardest moments \u2013 after losing her parents, the divorce, the illnesses.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Ten minutes, \u2013 one of the doctors said reluctantly.<\/p>\n

When Greta was brought in, she was at first confused by the hospital smells and white walls, but then she recognized her owner and rushed to her.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Wait, \u2013 the woman said with difficulty. \u2013 I\u2026 I refuse the operation. Do a re-examination. Immediately.<\/p>\n

\u2013 That\u2019s madness, \u2013 the doctor objected, holding his bandaged arm. \u2013 You\u2019re risking your life!<\/p>\n
