I nodded, trying to process her words. The thought of this little girl wandering alone at night made my heart ache. \u201cLet\u2019s get you out of there, okay? You must be hungry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Slowly, Lily crawled out from beneath the bed, her eyes never leaving mine. Murphy immediately moved to her side, nuzzling her gently. I smiled, grateful for his instinctive kindness.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re safe now, Lily,\u201d I assured her. \u201cLet\u2019s get you something to eat and figure out how to get you back home.\u201d<\/p>\n

As she stood up, I realized that this unexpected encounter was far from the nightmare I\u2019d imagined. Instead, it was the beginning of a journey\u2014one that would lead to answers, understanding, and, hopefully, a happy ending for Lily.<\/p>\n
