genuinely can’t believe I’m typing this, but here we are.
My sister picked up a container of fresh strawberries from a very large and reputable grocery chain today. Everything looked normal — nice packaging, plump red berries, sealed in tight plastic wrap. She brought it home, put it on the counter, and was about to wash some when she noticed something… moving.
At first, she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her. But no, nestled among the strawberries, coiled neatly like it belonged there, was a LIVE SNAKE. Yes — a real, breathing snake, sealed inside the package. 😱
We’re not snake experts, but it looks like a small garter snake — harmless in the wild, maybe, but definitely not something you want in your food. We don’t know how it got there — was it in the field? The packaging plant? The store? Either way, this is a huge food safety and quality control issue.
We’ve already contacted the grocery store and are in the process of escalating the matter to their corporate office. We’re also planning to report it to the appropriate health authorities, because this is not just a quirky “oops!” moment — this could have gone very wrong for someone who’s afraid of snakes, or worse, if it had been venomous.
Let me be clear: we’re not trying to start drama or go viral. But we do believe people should know this happened. If it happened to us, it could happen to someone else. Always double-check your produce — especially if it’s pre-packed. You never know what surprise “protein” might be hitching a ride with your fruit.
