We met her at hospice. Fragile but radiant, she whispered, “My babies.” Gabriel and Grace climbed onto her bed, hugging her with pure forgiveness.

She turned to Savannah. “I saw you that day, ten years ago. Hiding behind the maple tree, I watched you touch them like they were already yours. That’s when I knew they’d be safe. You answered my prayers.”

Savannah sobbed. “No. You answered mine.”

Suzanne smiled softly. “We all got our miracles, didn’t we?”

Those were her last clear words. She passed two days later, surrounded by the family created through her hardest choice.
