One night became a week. No family came forward. The note’s author remained a mystery.

Mrs. Rodriguez returned often, and eventually said, “Emergency foster could become permanent… if you’re interested.”

Six months later, Gabriel and Grace were legally ours.

Life turned beautifully chaotic. Diapers doubled our bills, Mark took extra shifts, and I taught weekends. But we managed.

Then the “miracle gifts” began—anonymous envelopes with cash or gift cards, clothes left on our doorstep. Always the right size, always at the right time.

We joked about a guardian angel, but deep down, I wondered.
