At the bottom, in the darkness, was a man. He was barely alive, moving with difficulty and groaning faintly. I immediately called the rescue services and an ambulance, shouting down to him that help was on the way.

When they finally pulled him up to the surface, the truth came out. This man had been walking through the forest with his horse, slipped, and fallen into the well. The horse couldn’t help him on its own, so it ran out to the road — straight to me.

If it hadn’t been for that horse, who knows how it all would have ended. And I still can’t believe that a random encounter on an empty road turned into a real miracle.
