I turned around. My father-in-law was standing there. His face was pale, his hands trembling.

— At work, — I answered nervously. — What happened?

— Go to the bathroom, quickly. I found something there… I think it belongs to your husband.

My heart sank.

— Is he… cheating on me? — I whispered.

— No. But you’d better see for yourself.

I stepped into the bathroom and froze. The wall near the sink was broken. On the floor lay chunks of tile and cement, and in the dust was a transparent plastic bag.

My father-in-law silently pointed at it. I crouched down, carefully picked it up, and opened it.
