Back then, nobody believed the young man. The trial was swift, and he was sentenced. Yet the harshest punishment wasn’t prison itself—it was the fact that he couldn’t even say goodbye to his beloved, couldn’t even attend her funeral.

For all those ten years, he dreamed of only one thing: the day he would walk free, the very first thing he would do was visit his fiancée’s grave.

And that day came. Once released, he went straight there. The frosty air, the mist, the dark silhouettes of the gravestones—they all blended together. He knelt before the tombstone, placed a bouquet of fresh flowers, and ran his hand over the cold stone.

But suddenly his eyes froze. He saw something terrible engraved on the stone and was paralyzed with shock 😱😱 To be continued in the first comment 👇👇

On the slab it read: 1990–2015.

His heart clenched. He remembered perfectly—officially, her death had been recorded in March 2014. That was written in the court documents and the investigation files.

So, either it was a terrible mistake by the stonemason, or behind it lay a dreadful secret.

He went to his fiancée’s parents.

— Just a mistake by the mason, — the mother replied curtly, without even looking him in the eye.

But the man knew: this was no mistake. He could feel too strongly that the truth was being hidden.

He began his own investigation and, through acquaintances, obtained old archival records. And then his world collapsed.

It turned out that his fiancée had only been found in 2015—a full year after his conviction. All that time, she had been officially listed as missing.

Even more—the expert reports stated that the body was relatively fresh when discovered. This meant only one thing: she hadn’t died in 2014, but at least a year later.

The man was innocent. He physically couldn’t have committed the crime, because he had been in prison the entire time.

But why hadn’t anyone told him? Why was the case closed as if nothing had happened, and he had served ten years for nothing?

The answer was simple: it was more convenient for the authorities to cover everything up than to admit that an innocent man had spent ten years in prison while the real criminal had remained free.

The man clenched his fists. From that moment on, he swore: he would uncover the truth. He would find the one who had truly stolen his future, his happiness, and the woman he loved.
