— It’s going to be okay. I just want you to be safe.

When the social workers entered the house and climbed the creaking stairs, suddenly a faint groan came from upstairs. One of them rushed up… and a moment later called the others.

In the dark corner of the room, covered with several blankets, lay an elderly woman. She could barely speak.

— That’s… my grandmother… — the girl whispered, finally stopping her hiding. — She can’t walk. I take care of her.

The workers froze. They had expected to find an abandoned child — but not this.

It turned out the grandmother was severely disabled, bedridden after a major stroke.

The girl quietly explained: her mother had died long ago, her father had passed away a few years earlier, and in winter her grandmother’s condition had worsened. There was no one to help them. The pension was barely enough for bread and medicine.

And the dogs… Those enormous, loyal German Shepherds had once belonged to her father. After his death, no one was able to take them — so they simply stayed with the little girl.

And since then, they had protected her every day, accompanied her, kept her warm at night, and let no one approach the house.
