Reviving Country Classics on the Idol Stage
Foster has remained loyal to his roots throughout the competition by performing classic country tunes on the national front. His renditions of:
- “Neon Moon” by Brooks & Dunn
- “Callin’ Baton Rouge” by Garth Brooks
- “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley
- have demonstrated his charisma, range, and indisputable southern charm.
His original songwriting, however, is leaving a lasting impression; it’s not simply covers that are drawing attention.

“Tell That Angel I Love Her” — A Personal and Poignant Tribute
When Foster sang his own song, “Tell That Angel I Love Her,” it was one of his most memorable performances.
The song is an incredibly moving ode to Maggie Dunn, his best friend, and her friend Caroline, who sadly died in a vehicle accident on New Year’s Eve 2022. During a fast-paced pursuit, a police officer ran a red light, resulting in the accident.
“Each tear that falls on my guitar / Is a hug from afar / Lord, won’t you tell that angel I love her? / As y’all live in the stars.”
Viewers found great resonance in the lyrics, which won Foster enormous acclaim and cemented his status as a genuine storyteller in the country music industry.
A Tribute to Randy Travis: “I Told You So”
During the “Iconic Idol Moments” episode, Foster paid homage to one of country music’s most respected legends — Randy Travis — by performing his 1988 hit “I Told You So.”
Foster’s voice took centre stage during the concert, as he did not play his distinctive guitar. His passionate and impactful performance echoed the spirit and vulnerability that made Travis’ original so cherished.
