When I was in severe pain from my pregnancy, I tried to go to the hospital, but my mother-in-law stopped me, forcefully grabbing my arm. She shouted angrily, “Stop making excuses. Cook dinner first. You don’t need to go to the hospital.”

I pleaded, “Please, I think something’s wrong with the baby.”

But she just tightened her grip. Father-in-law added, “You young women are always so dramatic about everything.”
