The woman groaned in pain, holding her belly, her breathing uneven. The man realized they couldn’t wait. So he decided to walk towards the ambulance himself.

He walked fast, almost running despite the weight. The woman groaned, clung to his shoulders, cried.

Finally, the man saw the ambulance lights cutting through the traffic. He ran up to the vehicle, handed the woman over to the medics and told them everything he knew.

The doctors took her away, and he remained standing in the middle of the road, breathing heavily from exhaustion and shock. He thought that was the end of it.
