One day the ex-husband held the door and nearly loomed over her:

— Listen carefully. Sign these papers willingly, — his voice was low but threatening. — I’ll give you money for a rental place. You know very well that this house belongs to me and my mother.

She looked at him calmly, though inside she was shaking.

— No. I’m not signing anything.

He twisted his face:

— Then we’ll meet in court.

The mother-in-law interfered — with a poisonous smile, as if everything had already been decided:

— In court everything will fall into place. You have no idea what documents we’ve prepared.
