It slammed against the wall with a crack.
All three looked up, startled.
I didn’t hesitate.
“My daughter is not staying here.”
The room fell silent.
Mark jumped to his feet, red with indignation.
“Mr. Thompson, this is MY home. She’s MY wife. You can’t just walk in and take her.”
I placed Emily on the sofa, far from the rain.
