A skin abscess is a localized infection that appears as a painful, red, and swollen lump filled with pus. It develops when bacteria enter the skin and the body responds by sending immune cells to fight the infection.

This type of infection commonly appears in areas with hair, sweating, or constant friction, such as the face, neck, armpits, or groin. Abscesses on the face are more sensitive and require special care.
