Still, Hannah remained sweet and hopeful. When she found her dream dress and booked her dream venue, we all expected celebration — except Christine, who barely reacted. I brushed it off as jealousy or nerves. But just days before Hannah’s big day, the unthinkable happened.
One evening, after a strained dinner, Christine claimed she was meeting her fiancé outside — but her coat still hung by the door. Something felt off. I followed her and found her in Hannah’s room, crying over the shredded remains of Hannah’s wedding gown. “I swear I didn’t do this,” she whispered, shaking.Christine confessed she’d caught John — Hannah’s fiancé — texting his ex months ago. He had promised it was over, but Christine remained suspicious. That night, she had seen John leave Hannah’s room looking uneasy. Curious, she checked the room afterward — and found the destroyed dress.

She feared no one would believe her, especially Hannah, given their rocky history. But her instincts told her John wanted to sabotage the wedding. We confronted him together. At first, he denied it, but under pressure, he broke. He admitted to destroying the dress, hoping to delay the wedding — and yes, he had been secretly seeing his ex.
Hannah was crushed. “Why didn’t you just tell me?” she cried. John had no answer. Christine stayed with her, apologizing through tears. “I was scared of losing my place in this family after my dad died,” she said. “But you’ve always been my sister.”

To help heal the pain, Christine repurposed the ruined gown into a stunning cocktail dress. On what would have been the wedding day, we held a family celebration at the venue. Hannah smiled again — this time because of Christine’s love and loyalty.

And then, quietly, Christine asked me something that made my heart swell.
“Will you and Hannah walk me down the aisle when it’s my turn?”
I hugged her tightly. “We’d be honored.”
