Phil Robertson, founder of Duck Commander and the beloved patriarch of the Robertson family, rose to fame through A&E’s hit reality series Duck Dynasty. The show, which aired from 2012 to 2017, offered viewers a glimpse into the family’s duck call business in West Monroe, Louisiana — but it was the heart behind the beards that captured America.
Beyond hunting and humor, the series was built on something much deeper: a shared love for one another and a bold devotion to their Christian faith.
After the show ended, Phil and his family continued spreading their message through podcasts, media appearances, and social platforms. But at the end of 2024, Phil stepped away from his Unashamed podcast. In December, his sons, Al and Jase, revealed that Phil had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and a blood condition.
“Preparing for the Journey to the Other Side”
As 2025 unfolded, the family kept fans gently informed about Phil’s declining health. In a May 19 episode of Unashamed, Al and Jase opened up emotionally, sharing that it felt like Phil was “getting ready for the journey to the other side.”
On Sunday, May 25, that journey was complete.
The Robertson family confirmed that Phil Robertson passed away peacefully earlier that day. He was 79 years old.
Their public statement read:
“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus. We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”

While many family members shared the official statement, several posted deeply personal tributes that shed light on the man behind the legend.
