As Ileana stepped from the church in her white gown, her heart clenched at the sight before her.

Rex, her aging German shepherd, lay crumpled at her feet, his breathing shallow, his once-bright eyes dimming with each moment. Beside her, her father Mihai knelt down, voice heavy with sorrow.

“Sweetheart… I think it’s time we take him to the vet,” he said gently, but Ileana already knew the truth.

“No,” she whispered, barely able to speak through her tears. “He held on… just to see me in my wedding dress.”
