At the very back, a girl was asleep — young, disheveled, with a large backpack and her phone in her hands. She was genuinely asleep: mouth slightly open, head tilted back.
The elderly woman approached her and mumbled something under her breath. The girl didn’t respond. Then the woman yanked her hair and started yelling.
«Didn’t they teach you to respect your elders?!» she shouted for the entire bus to hear.
The girl jolted awake, startled, and looked around, confused.
«I… I was asleep. You could’ve just asked,» she said calmly and quietly.
Silence. The whole bus froze. The woman seemed to mistake the girl’s calmness for weakness.
«Just another rude brat! Ungrateful little witch!» she snapped, her voice rising.
It was getting uncomfortable. The girl sat there, almost shrinking into her seat, but didn’t avert her gaze.
«You had no right to touch me,» she said softly. «I would’ve stood up if you had asked kindly. But you started yelling and insulting me.»
The woman started ranting again — this time about the girl’s parents, saying they must have failed to raise her, probably no father, no manners…
And then the girl did something that left everyone speechless 😱😱
She pulled out a bottle of water and calmly, without a hint of drama, poured it on the woman.
«Don’t talk about my parents,» she said in a steady, composed voice that sent a chill through the air.
The woman was stunned. Someone chuckled. Someone gasped.
“Maybe that’s enough?” a man said from the back.
Other passengers chimed in:
“She was just sleeping…”
“What do her parents have to do with this?”
The woman sank into her seat. Her face was wet, makeup smeared. But the girl didn’t gloat — she just stood up, adjusted her backpack.
“I really would’ve given up my seat. But no one asked like a human being,” she said and got off at the next stop.
The bus was filled with a heavy silence. No one knew whose side to take. Everyone was asking themselves quietly: “What would I have done?”
The woman wiped her face with a tissue. Maybe she really was going through a lot. Maybe life had worn her down… or maybe she was just tired of being invisible.
The driver glanced back:
“One more outburst like that — I’m dropping everyone off. I’m more tired of life than all of you put together.
