Max wasn’t just a pet. He had served faithfully alongside the officer in countless operations. The bond between them was forged through years of shared duty. Max had been there during the officer’s final assignment, a mysterious warehouse raid that ended in tragedy. Since then, the dog had barely eaten or moved, as if consumed by grief.

Now, at the burial, Max lay still at the foot of the coffin. The air was heavy with emotion, soft sobs could be heard among the guests.

But then, something changed.

Max suddenly rose. His ears twitched, his nose touched the side of the casket. He sniffed intently — then recoiled. A low growl rumbled from his throat before he erupted into furious barking. It wasn’t random noise. It was urgent, almost desperate.
