The next morning, Rick casually suggested I take the kids to Helen’s for a few days. I packed their bags, pretending all was normal. Helen greeted us coldly, but when I showed her Rick’s texts, her anger ignited. She quickly sided with me, vowing we’d teach Rick a lesson.

Helen and I hatched a plan. When Rick arrived to “help” with some chores, Helen pretended to suffer a sudden health crisis. She called Rick, feigning weakness, and he rushed over, panicked and helpless. Helen confronted him, revealing the texts and exposing his lies. Rick was stunned and speechless.

He begged for forgiveness, promising to end the affair, but I told him the kids deserved better than a cheating father. That night, Rick slept on Helen’s couch while I felt something I hadn’t in years—support and strength.

The next day, I called the other woman. She feigned ignorance but quickly realized the truth. I hung up, knowing I was no longer the woman who cried alone that night.

Thanks to Helen, I was no longer alone—and I’d never let Rick or anyone else disrespect me again.
